Domestic Cleaner

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Domestic Cleaner to join our team. As a Domestic Cleaner, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, hygienic, and comfortable environment for our residents. Your attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness will contribute to creating a safe and pleasant living space for our residents to thrive.

Responsibilities:

• Cleaning Tasks: Perform a range of cleaning duties, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing surfaces in resident rooms, communal areas, offices, corridors, and other designated spaces.

• Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols and cleaning standards as per the guidelines provided by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Follow established procedures for handling waste, sanitizing surfaces, and preventing the spread of infections.

• Laundry Management: Collect, sort, and launder resident clothing, linens, and other items as needed. Ensure proper washing, drying, folding, and storage of laundry. Handle soiled items in a safe and hygienic manner.

• Supply Management: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other necessary items for daily cleaning tasks. Report to the supervisor or designated personnel when supplies need to be restocked.

• Reporting Maintenance Needs: Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly to the appropriate department or supervisor. This includes issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, equipment malfunction, or any other safety concerns.

• Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with other care home staff, including caregivers, nurses, and maintenance personnel, to ensure a coordinated approach to cleanliness and maintenance. Communicate effectively regarding cleaning schedules, tasks, and any special instructions.

• Resident Interaction: Interact with residents in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner while carrying out cleaning tasks. Respect their privacy and individual preferences while maintaining a clean and comfortable living environment.

• Safety Awareness: Follow all health and safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself, residents, and other staff members. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

Requirements:

• Previous Cleaning Experience: Prior experience in professional cleaning, preferably in a care home or healthcare setting, is preferred. Familiarity with infection control practices is an advantage.

• Attention to Detail: Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and maintain high cleanliness standards. Strive for excellence in all cleaning tasks.

• Physical Stamina: Possess the physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods, lift and move equipment or supplies, and bend or reach as required in the cleaning process.

• Dependability and Reliability: Be punctual and reliable in reporting for scheduled shifts. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to fulfilling responsibilities consistently.

• Professionalism: Display a professional and respectful attitude towards residents, their families, and fellow staff members. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional conduct and ethics.

• Communication Skills: Possess effective verbal communication skills to interact with residents and staff members courteously and efficiently. Understand and follow instructions accurately.

• Flexibility: Be adaptable and flexible to meet the changing needs of the care home. Willingness to work weekends, evenings, or holidays as required.
